Sisters: can't live with them, but you can't live without them!

Just spent the best weekend with Marce. It's funny cause we used to hate each other in high school, actually we hated each other since I was born. Marcela was the first child and she did not appreciate me coming into the family. She was spoiled. When I was  a new born baby my mom found her on top of me in my crib trying to bite one of my toes off. And so we were off on the wrong start. As we grew older it got worse and worse. We were polar opposites. My poor mother. I am pretty sure karma is going to get to us and we are going to have crazy dramatic girls like us.
Well things worked out and now we are best buds. Stephen was in Malibu playing ball and living the life so Marce came over to have some girl time. Her husband is taking some hard classes at BYU and he is studying his butt off so Marce rarely sees him. Like the best brother in law he is, he lent her to me for a weekend. I secretly think Davidson just needed a break. Marce can be overwhelming sometimes....
We had the best time. I got off work early on friday and we started off our weekend. We decided one of the fun things we were going to do was eat, eat and eat. But not just eat, but eat goooood. Any lonely wife knows that when their husbands are gone your meals consist of cereal, grilled cheese and snacks. Basically anything that takes less than 5 min to prepare. So after a week of Esteban being gone I was ready for some good food. Let me just brag about myself for a bit. As a good Hispanic, I am a heck of a cook. Let's just say Marce gained a few pounds this weekend.
Besides eating, we played games, watched tonssss of movies and had a killer bee incident. We also had an affordable girl's day at the spa. Basically we went to paul mitchell and got a deep moisturizer, skull massage, and hair styling for the grand prize of 6 bucks. It was awesome! In one of the movies we watched I found my 12 year old twin. Her name is Curly Sue. She burps, farts, looks like a makeover ready to happen and says inappropriate things all the time which she gets away with because they are extremely funny and she is dang cute. Sounds just like me right?
Well to say the least I loved being with Marce this weekend. We are both getting so excited for our trip to Honduras and cannot wait to see your family.

(This is my twin. Doesn't she look just like me?)

Esteban's Birthday

What a day. Stephen has been studying his butt off and I have spent all day preparing his par-tey. We started of our day with what I call an Island dream breakfast. If I may brag so myself, I made seriously the best egg casserole ever. Paired it up with toast, orange juice and a mango salad and huala we had the best breakfast ever. I put some disney music, woke up stephen and pretended we were in Hawaii. A girl can dream right?

I spent the rest of the day cooking the food for his dinner and hiding his presents. We created this tradition last year were we find our presents through a treasure hunt. I found some awesome clues this year but maybe a little too awesome cause Esteban couldn't figure them out. Stephen got some Andes chocolate (if you are an olive garden addict like ourselves you'll know what I'm talking about),  gift card to olive garden (really we are addicts), a sweet old school mariner's shirt, and two pass of all passes. That's right, we are going to have the best summer ever with those passes. I am exhausted but seeing Stephen so happy was so worth it. Stephen transfomed from a stressed college student into a happy little five year old boy.

For dinner I made tacos. We had this awesome shredded pork our friends made for dinner and I decided to use that recipe for the meat. Seriously best meat ever. Who would have known green salsa, brown sugar and coke were so good together? To close the night we ate homemade icecream cake. I just youtubed icecream cake and found the easiest recipe.

I love love love birthdays. I'm usually very practical and thrifty but when it comes to birthdays I go all out, especially when it comes to Stephen. I think every person deserves to be treated special atleast once a year and what better than an awesome birthday to do the trick? Can't wait for Stephen's birthday next year to come up with more cool stuff. Maybe I'll suprise him with a baby next year. He'll never see that one coming...

This post is for Kristen. She loves to look at pictures of me. Kinda creepy.I know.
The first dress I made myself. The second one I bought for $4.00 in the Park City outlets and refashioned it. All  did was make it smaller.

I got this beauty for my birthday:

Stephen bought it all on his own. He did some research and  after reading comments on it decided it was the one. I love it! I call it my brother and it drives Esteban crazy. Here are some of the projects I've done so far:

Midnight Facebook Suprise

So today I found a little surprise waiting for me when I checked my Facebook.  I had a message from one of Stephen's coaches, Tim Ogard. This man means alot to Stephen. He taught him alot of what he knows now about baseball and was a great influence for Stephen growing up.  Well he read my blogpost (hopefully he didn't watch our embarrassing music video) about Esteban and liked it so much that he sent me a message telling me how much he loved Stephen and what a great player he was back in the day. (you still are babe) But I loved this so much I had to record it somewhere for time and all eternity. Hence the blog post. Here is a small part of what he said:

"Your friends at BYU have seen him make many great catches out in Center Field. He was doing that when he was 13 on a regular basis. He was awarded "Defensive player of the Tournament" on several occasions. We often played on Junior High fields where there were no outfield fences. When centerfield ran out, there was the football field and it just went on for ever. Stephen would run down balls and catch them no matter how far they were hit, he amazed us many times. We used to play tournaments up near the Canadian border, there was a field where with an uphill slant, out beyond where it was thought a ball could be hit. One time, a ball got hit way out there, and Stephen ran right up that hill and caught it. It was a dangerous thing to have that hill there when a guy is going that fast, and he made it look like an easy catch. Back in those days, he looked just like he does now going after a ball, only he was shorter!!!"

My question to Tim is did he have the same hockey temper back when he was 13? I bet he did.

Tim was also kind enough to send me some cute pictures of little Esteban back in the day.

(His the cutie with the grey cutoff shirt)

I have come to realize that I was pretty smart about marrying Stephen. I have no talents whatsoever. Remember back in the day in school when they asked you to list your talents. Here is what my list probably looked like:
"I talk. alot."
"I eat. alot"
"Did I already say I talk alot?"
Well thanks to Stephen maybe one of our kids will be the next Babe Ruth (minus the extra pounds) and he'll buy me a house on the beach and I can live the rest of my life drinking pina coladas while laying on a hammock under a palm tree. Have I mentioned how Utah forgot it was summer?

Esteban

Esteban is playing in the MWC Championship this week and I miss him. So far they have one one and lost one. He is actually playing another game right this second. In honor of his last baseball week of the season I thought I would right a little about Esteban's baseball career. (remember this is from my point of view so the stories might be exaggerated to make Stephen look better and my baseball knowledge comes to about less than 0 but it's my blog so I win).

Stephen's mom says she noticed Stephen was different  the moment she started taking him to baseball games. The Wells are from Seattle so they would go to a lot of Mariners' games. Six boys one mom one dad in a 3 hour 9 inning baseball game? doomed for disaster right? not with Stephen. Cindy (my mother in law) says that most of her boys would end up running around and whining they wanted to go home cause it was cold but not Stephen. He would sit quietly and absorb everything that was going on. He loved major league baseball.

It was only uphill from then on. He was three-time all-league at Inglemoor High ... voted most inspirational player on team as a senior. Latter on when he played at BYU and was named to the Mountain West Conference All-Tournament Team ... selected Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by Ping!Baseball and Academic All-Mountain West Conference ... ended the season with a current 15-game hitting streak ... had an eight-game hitting streak earlier in the season ... was on base 10 consecutive times against Utah.  (for those who think I'm bragging I am. Stephen is worth bragging and since he won't do it I will).
Stephen wasn't always a baseball star (yes honey you are a star even if you don't want to). Stephen suffered his first year at BYU from a disease we all have experienced sometime in our life. Homesickness. He hated school, he didn't want to play baseball and one day he called his mom and said, "mom I'm coming home." My mother in law, being the wise lady that she is told Stephen he could walk if he wanted to come home cause she wasn't buying him a ticket. Stephen struggled with this until he went on a mission and became a man. Just saying. then a year later he met a wonderful girl who inspired him to be better and was so fun he sometime forgot she was his girlfriend and called her dude. He still does that.

Let me tell you, between you and me, Stephen is the nicest guy but the moment he goes into the field he becomes an angry maniac. We all refer to it as his hockey temper. We are all grateful he plays centerfield so no one can here him yelling at umpires when they make a "bad call". He was also caught on camera once hitting the wall (he claims he was just trying to put the bat away but it's on tape I have proof) after he striked out. Don't get me wrong thought the root of this is Stephen's undying love for baseball. He LOVES baseball. I have learned from him that if you want to be good at something you have to commit to it and work the hardest you can at it. And never ever give up. I am really proud of him and I know he will accomplish great things in life.
